Karen Shen

Having been involved in many facets of the Brooklyn and Manhattan residential real estate market for 17 years, Karen brings a special ability to exceed expectations for a wide array of discerning customers. Her broad-based experience includes comprehensive real estate marketing and unparalleled client service, which she honed during the 10 years she spent working in advertising. A native New Yorker, who has lived in Brooklyn for 15 years, Karen served as Treasurer on the Board of her condominium and as a volunteer, who helped to establish the Prospect Heights Historic District. Following the sale of her condominium, she managed the extensive renovation of her four-story brownstone, which was featured on the Emmy-award winning, PBS television show, This Old House, as the shows first and only project in New York. In addition to appearing in many of the episodes, Karen published a blog on the This Old House website, which detailed some of the behind-the-scenes action and decision-making of her major renovation. Karen graduated from Yale with a Bachelors of Arts degree. During her early career in advertising, she was an account manager at Ogilvy & Mather for major corporate clients, including American Express and Lever Brothers. She was able to learn the keys to responsive client service, as well as targeted brand marketing. She further developed her sales and marketing skills when she co-founded a jewelry company. The company launched its first collection at Barneys New York and other high-end boutiques in the U.S. and Australia. Drawing from these diverse experiences, Karen is eager to work with homeowners to market their property to achieve their financial goals and to help buyers find their ideal home in one of Brooklyns beautiful brownstone neighborhoods. She has an in-depth knowledge of both established and developing Brooklyn brownstone neighborhoods.
